Today’s FREE Off the Grid Projects is taken from “How to DIY Hydrogen Generator”, if you’d like the complete guide with pics and more detail go to
On demand h2 generators are a bit different from the Hollywood versions like seen Chain Reaction with Keanu Reeves, that tend to explode violently every time a film is being made. However when used in an on-demand system there is no storage of hydrogen and oxygen in it’s gas form, only liquid (water) and is only transformed into gas “on-demand” in small cylinder size amounts. It’s actually safer then gasoline as it doesn’t evaporate, creating explosive fumes in the tank like gas.
I currently run 2 trucks, my home hot water heater, home stove and home generator on hydrogen. There are basically 3 safe ways to make and use it… chemically, electrically and molecularly, the first 2 being easier so I’ll only discuss them here. The fallowing are free plans and information on hydrogen gas to run your car, enjoy. The fallowing steps are how to build a hydrogen generator plans free.
This is the 3rd part of my FREE OFF THE GRID PROJECTS post and will instruct you on how-to complete your own OFF THE GRID PROJECTS FREE.
Fallow these Free plans and information on hydrogen gas to run your car. The fallowing steps are how to build a hydrogen generator plans free.
Electrical is a bit easier then last weeks Chemical.
1. Simply take a small solar panel 1.5 amps is what I use ($9 at harborfreight.com), connect the 2 wires from the panel +- to 2 conductors (carbon cores of batteries work well, just be careful removing it from the jacket), but any conductive material will work ie. Copper, aluminum, steel, etc.
2. Drop the wires into a water tank (I use 55gal drums), make sure they don’t touch each other.
3. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, screwing in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).
4. Then simply add water, screw on the top cap and wait.
After a few hours tiny bubbles will form and rise off one conductor (that’s hydrogen) and even smaller bubbles that just looks like foam will rise off the other (oxygen). I don’t remember which likes the positive and which likes the neg hydrogen or the oxygen.
The third method is more complicated and is what I use for my vehicles. It’s just a modified Joe’s Cell, there’s a step by step DIY guide available to walk you threw the process here http://www.agua-luna.com/. It also covers the other 2 methods described in more detail.
The steps above are complete, but if you have ANY questions or would like a more detailed copy with pics, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions,

i have use the mason jar set up for my truck and liked it. i series three 1 quart jars together as generators and 1 for an eveaporator. i suplied electric with a 400 watt power inverter and hook into a carburated engine. i went from 16 mpg to 27mpg. Now i’m interested in trying something a little more complex and hopefully put smaller jets in the carburator or even eliminate the use for gas. my biggest problem is i’m not sure if i could use anything other than a glass container and i was conserned with the possibility of a vent hole lower than my feed line in the container because i’m not sure it can work to its full potentual if it does not have a way to replace the gases being suctioned out by the intake. i’ve been trying different ways for obout 3 years now and i’m starting to look for help in improving this set up. any help would be greatly appriciated and improvement i get will be shared with many people in my community. i had at least 50 people ask me for the blue print of the set up and i’ve also put several together for others at no charge. i believe strongly that we are being ripped of with the price of gasoline and with ethanol in it the quality goes down the drain rapidly when it sits for any amount of time. thank you for the time you took to read this and again any help would be greatly appriciated.
11. agua-luna.com | November 11, 2010 at 9:04 pm
Hi Jamie,
You can use titanium , aluminum, stainless steel, I have even used plastic bottles (short term). Take your pick. As far as the intake jets you can reduced them to the same as a propane blowback jet which don’t quote me is 10,000.
As far as the vent hole being lower than the feed line as long as the lever isn’t higher than the vent hole you shouldn’t have a problem.

i WOULD LIKE TO BUILD A HYDROGEN GENERATOR TO RUN MY VAN 1993 CHEVY. HAS ANYONE EVER USED ALUMINUM OR TITANIUM PLATES TO REDUCE THE HEAT FACTOR. INSTEAD OF STAINLESS STEEL. I KNOW THE COSTS ARE A BIT HIGHER BUT THE END RESULT IS MORE POWER AND LESS AMPS.

Hello Fred,
First off, a van , any van, is great for HHO conversion, I used both aluminum and titanium and find aluminum to last a bit longer surprisingly. If you can afford it, go with aluminum.
14. Guy | November 3, 2010 at 8:44 am
Dan,
First – very cool that you’re doing this.
Second, I’m very interested in making use of making ‘water-fueled’ generators for my car and small engine devices. Your web page refers to free plans for “last weeks” [chemical] process for producing hydrogen fuel but does not actually show that process; just the one for production by electricity. Did I miss something? Did you delete it from the page? If it’s still on your site, please advise where I can find it. A lot of your books look very interesting and I may get the full bundle if the hydrogen fuel setup works.
Thanks.
Guy

Hi I just made and insalled a 8 plate unit in my car. It seemed to be working well but then the water got very brown looking. I was useing one teaspoon of lye in 1.5 liters of water. ( ditilled).Allso a foaming problem when water got hot.
I read that cool aide was better than lye or koh and it keep the plates clean. What do you think about that???”
Saskachewan Canada.
30. agua-luna.com | July 17, 2009 at 10:23 am
Hello Albert,
Make sure the water you are using is “really” distilled water with a pmm tester (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00138S6WM?ie=UTF8&seller=A3EDFW08XP15DQ&sn=antiquebahia. Usually brown deposits indicates the presence of iron (iron oxide) on the water. Also make sure your anode and catode are made of Stainless Steel or better.
