Today’s FREE Off the Grid Projects is taken from “How to DIY Hydrogen Generator”, if you’d like the complete guide with pics and more detail go to

On demand h2 generators are a bit different from the Hollywood versions like seen Chain Reaction with Keanu Reeves, that tend to explode violently every time a film is being made. However when used in an on-demand system there is no storage of hydrogen and oxygen in it’s gas form, only liquid (water) and is only transformed into gas “on-demand” in small cylinder size amounts. It’s actually safer then gasoline as it doesn’t evaporate, creating explosive fumes in the tank like gas.

I currently run 2 trucks, my home hot water heater, home stove and home generator on hydrogen. There are basically 3 safe ways to make and use it… chemically, electrically and molecularly, the first 2 being easier so I’ll only discuss them here. The fallowing are free plans and information on hydrogen gas to run your car, enjoy. The fallowing steps are how to build a hydrogen generator plans free.

This is the 3rd part of my FREE OFF THE GRID PROJECTS post and will instruct you on how-to complete your own OFF THE GRID PROJECTS FREE.

Fallow these Free plans and information on hydrogen gas to run your car. The fallowing steps are how to build a hydrogen generator plans free.

Electrical is a bit easier then last weeks Chemical.

1. Simply take a small solar panel 1.5 amps is what I use ($9 at harborfreight.com), connect the 2 wires from the panel +- to 2 conductors (carbon cores of batteries work well, just be careful removing it from the jacket), but any conductive material will work ie. Copper, aluminum, steel, etc.

2. Drop the wires into a water tank (I use 55gal drums), make sure they don’t touch each other.

3. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, screwing in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).

4. Then simply add water, screw on the top cap and wait.

After a few hours tiny bubbles will form and rise off one conductor (that’s hydrogen) and even smaller bubbles that just looks like foam will rise off the other (oxygen). I don’t remember which likes the positive and which likes the neg hydrogen or the oxygen.

The third method is more complicated and is what I use for my vehicles. It’s just a modified Joe’s Cell, there’s a step by step DIY guide available to walk you threw the process here http://www.agua-luna.com/hydrogen.html. It also covers the other 2 methods described in more detail.

The steps above are complete, but if you have ANY questions or would like a more detailed copy with pics, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions,

I have been tinkering with thie concept and tonight finally proofed to myself that it’s possible. I bought one set of plans but they’re very compicated and items listed hard to find.I woul like to have a working set of plans that the average shade tree mechanis can follow.

What exactly you want the hydrogen generator at your home? for cooking ?, for heating?

You can check the following plans, they work not only for run engines but for generate hydrogen to be burn and generate heat:

I am a mechanical engineering student working on a project for a machine design class. I am very interested in building a hydrogen generator as a class project. However with the downturn of the economy the college has restricted funds available for our classes projects. Is there any way I can get the information and parts I need to build the generator for free.

Hi I just made and insalled a 8 plate unit in my car. It seemed to be working well but then the water got very brown looking. I was useing one teaspoon of lye in 1.5 liters of water. ( ditilled).Allso a foaming problem when water got hot.
I read that cool aide was better than lye or koh and it keep the plates clean. What do you think about that???”

I recommend you the FREE How can I go Green ebook available on the left bar of our webpage http://www.agua-luna.com/diy_guides.html. There you will also find the guides you are requesting: Hydrogen Generator, Wind Turbine, Solar Water Heater. And very soon we will include the “How to build your own Biodigester”, which will help you saving money on waste management along the production of Methane for FREE that can be use for cooking and heating.

All my best to you. And keep cool. It’s hot here in Texas this days, right?
